Air Calédonie Takes Delivery of its First ATR 42-500
Air Calédonie today accepted delivery of its first ATR
42-500 aircraft. This aircraft is the first to be delivered following
the signature of a contract for three new ATR aircraft (1 ATR 42-500
and 2 ATR 72-500) signed in September 2005 for a total value of US $50
million based upon list price.
The delivery ceremony took place in Toulouse with Nidoïsh Naisseline,
Chairman of the Board of Air Calédonie, and Filippo Bagnato, Chief Executive
Officer of ATR.
The carrier Air Calédonie has selected the new generation ATR aircraft
to renew its fleet, in the frame of its restructuring programme. The
ATR 42-500 and the two ATR 72-500s will replace the three ATR 42-320s
owned by Air Calédonie. The airline will take delivery of the two ATR
72-500s at the end of 2006 and in 2007.
Nidoïsh Naisseline stated: "We are delighted to offer a modern fleet
and the latest standards of comfort to our passengers. With these new
ATR aircraft to come, we will offer better service and higher capacity,
including more flexible connections between the islands. This will be
also the opportunity for our airline to open itself to the rest of the
world via a new booking system."
Filippo Bagnato said: "This delivery is another important milestone
in our already long partnership. In a land like New Caledonia, turboprops
are the optimal choice for the trips between the islands.".
Equipped with the new "Elegance" cabin, the aircraft will be delivered
with the Multi-Purpose Computer (MPC), the newest technological innovations
in the field navigation aid tools.
Since the beginning of the program, ATR has sold 808 aircraft (399 ATR
42s and 409 ATR 72s) and delivered 699 aircraft (385 ATR 42s and 314
ATR 72s).
